Discovery is the initial project phase where you deeply understand the client's business, technical and commercial constraints, users, and success metrics. The goal is to define a realistic scope and a first plan before writing code. At Spiralway it typically lasts one week — not one quarter, as happens in large consultancies. A good discovery saves money by avoiding building the wrong thing.
