MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that defines how an AI agent discovers and uses external tools: databases, APIs, file systems, browsers. Think of MCP as the USB equivalent for agents: any tool implementing the protocol is usable by any compatible agent. It reduces the friction of building integrations and lets the ecosystem grow by composition. Adopting it early simplifies operating AI agents in production.
